Four soldiers killed in roadside blast

A roadside blast on Sunday targeting a security convoy in southwest Somalia has claimed the lives of at least four soldiers and wounded several others,  including two who were seriously injured, according to police.

Police say that the convoy was travelling from Dayunany to Baidoa, the capital city of the Bay region when the attack occurred.

“Four soldiers were killed and more than two others were wounded after a security convoy was targeted,” said police officer Mowlid Mohamed.

Pro-al-Shabaab websites have released statements claiming responsibility for the attack.

The wounded soldiers were evacuated to Bay regional hospital in Baidoa for treatment and are listed as in critical condition.
